Dexanir Injection is a steroid medicine. It is used to reduce severe inflammations in the joints like in the case of rheumatoid arthritis, a severe case of asthma and treat many conditions of skin allergies, eye conditions and is also used in post-surgery care. It contains dexamethasone as its active ingredient.
This medicine acts by reducing the formation of inflammation-causing substances in the body. It is given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinic. Do not self inject.
You should not stop taking this Injection suddenly as it may worsen the disease condition.
Dexanir Injection is not recommended during pregnancy as there is a risk of retarded growth and a reduction in adrenal hormones in the unborn child when used for prolonged periods. Hence, it is not advisable to take this injection. However, it can be prescribed by a doctor when the benefits of this medicine to pregnant women outweigh the risks to the unborn baby.
It is unknown if the dexamethasone passes into the breastmilk. Hence, the Dexanir Injection should be avoided while breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor.
There is limited information about the effects of Dexanir Injection on driving. However, you should not drive if you experience any side effects which can hamper your ability to be alert.
Although there is no known interaction of Dexanir Injection with alcohol, it is important to consult your doctor if you drink alcohol too often.

Dexanir Injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse, thus the chances of overdose are less because the treatment and the dose will be specific to the patient. However, in case of any discomfort after or during the treatment with this medicine, it should be informed immediately to the doctor.
The doctor or nurse usually gives Dexanir Injections in the hospital or clinic. Therefore, the chances of missing a dose are less. However, if you feel that a dose has been missed, please inform your doctor and nurse.

Steroidal flare is also known as a post-injection flare, which usually occurs in the joints where the injection is given. The joint pain can be managed by applying ice to the affected area and using some general pain killers after consulting the doctor.
Dexanir Injection will be given to you by your treating doctors or nurse in a hospital and clinic setup. Do not self inject this injection.
Dexanir Injection is not advised to be given to pregnant women, especially in the third trimester. However, in some critical conditions, when the benefit from this injection is more than the risk to the baby, it can be given to pregnant women by a treating doctor.
