Ivahist 8mg Tablets contain betahistine as the active pharmaceutical ingredient. Betahistine is indicated for the treatment of Meniere's syndrome, a chronic disorder affecting the inner ear. Meniere's syndrome is characterized by a triad of symptoms: episodic vertigo, which is a sensation of spinning or dizziness; tinnitus, described as a ringing, buzzing, or roaring sound in the ears; and fluctuating hearing loss, typically in one ear.
Patients may also experience aural fullness and nausea. The mechanism of action involves improving microcirculation within the inner ear, specifically in the cochlea and vestibular system. This enhanced blood flow is believed to help reduce endolymphatic hydrops, which is an excess fluid accumulation in the inner ear that contributes to the symptoms of Meniere's syndrome.
By alleviating this pressure and improving circulation, betahistine aims to reduce the frequency and severity of vertigo attacks, mitigate tinnitus, and stabilize hearing function associated with the condition.
If you missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for a missed one.
This medicine improves blood flow in the inner ear and reduces pressure built in the ear.
