Kenalfin Injection is an anti-inflammatory medicine containing Ketorolac as its active ingredient. It is used to manage post-operative pain, joint pain and muscle ache (short term). Kenalfin will be given to you in a hospital or clinic by a doctor or nurse as an Injection.
You should avoid self-injecting. Before starting this medicine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from.
Kenalfin Injection should not be used in pregnancy, as there is limited information about its safety in human pregnancy. It is essential to always consult a doctor before starting any medicine during pregnancy.
Ketorolac is known to pass into the breastmilk in a small amount. Thus, Kenalfin Injection should not be used while breastfeeding. It is important to consult the doctor before using any medication while breastfeeding.
You may experience side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, other visual abnormalities while on treatment with Kenalfin Injection. If you experience any of these, avoid driving or operating a machine.
You should avoid consuming alcohol while on treatment with Kenalfin Injection, as it may increase the risk of gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) bleeding.
Talk to your doctor if
You will be monitored by the doctor or nurse as to when Kenalfin Injection should be given to you. It is unlikely that the dose will be missed. However, if you think your doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.
Ketorolac in Kenalfin Injection works by blocking the production of certain natural substances, known as prostaglandins, in the body which are responsible for pain, swelling and redness.
Kenalfin Injection is to be taken by Injection and is given into tissue just under the skin or into the vein. So, it is always advisable to get this Injection from an experienced doctor or nurse. It also needs to observe the patient for some time after Injection. So, this medicine should not be self-administered.
Both Kenalfin Injection & ibuprofen are painkiller medicine. You should not take two painkiller medicines together, as it can increase the risk of side effects such as bleeding and ulcers. Hence, it is not recommended to take these medicines simultaneously.
