This product is a sterile, absorbable, synthetic monofilament suture composed of polydioxanone polymer. It is designed for use in surgical procedures where tissue support is required for an extended period. The suture is violet in color, which aids in visualization during surgical manipulation.
Its monofilament construction minimizes tissue drag and reduces the potential for bacterial harboring. The suture is engineered for predictable absorption, with the material being fully absorbed by the body over a period of 180 to 210 days. This makes it suitable for applications requiring temporary wound closure and support.
The tensile strength of the suture is maintained over time, with approximately 70% of its original strength retained at two weeks post-implantation, 50% at four weeks, and 25% at six weeks. This gradual loss of strength corresponds with the healing process of tissues. The suture is provided pre-attached to a needle for immediate use.
The needle is a 31mm V-38 type, characterized by a fish hook taper point. This needle design is intended to facilitate penetration through tissue with reduced resistance and trauma. The combination of the suture material and needle configuration is intended to provide reliable tissue approximation and wound closure.
Each package contains 24 individual foils, with each foil containing one pre-assembled suture and needle unit. The suture length is 70cm. The diameter of the suture is classified as USP 1.
This suture is intended for use by trained medical professionals in a sterile surgical environment. Its absorbable nature eliminates the need for suture removal, which can be beneficial in certain patient populations or anatomical locations. Typical applications include approximation of soft tissues, and ligation of blood vessels where prolonged support is necessary.
It is also indicated for use in plastic surgery, general surgery, and gynecological procedures. Careful consideration should be given to the healing rate of the specific tissue being approximated and the required duration of wound support when selecting this suture. The suture should be handled using appropriate aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
Storage conditions should adhere to manufacturer guidelines to maintain sterility and integrity of the product. This suture is intended for single use only and should not be resterilized.
