This product is a sterile, synthetic, absorbable surgical suture designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is composed of a braided copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide, coated with calcium stearate. The suture is violet in color and has a diameter classified as USP 1.

The absorption process occurs through hydrolysis, resulting in a progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual elimination of the suture material from the body. This process begins with a reduction in tensile strength, followed by a decrease in mass. The suture is designed to maintain a significant portion of its tensile strength for several weeks post-implantation, with 75% retention at 14 days, 50% at 21 days, and 25% at 28 days.

The absorption is typically completed within 56 to 70 days, with an average completion time of 63 days. The accompanying needle is 23mm in length, features a 1/2 circle curvature, and is of the reverse cutting heavy portt type, designed for penetration through tougher tissues. The suture length provided is 35cm.
