This product is a sterile, absorbable synthetic monofilament suture designed for soft tissue approximation. The suture material is Poliglecaprone 25, a copolymer of glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone. It is dyed violet for enhanced visibility during surgical procedures.
The suture is classified as USP 2-0, indicating its diameter, and measures 70 centimeters in length. Its absorbable nature means it is gradually broken down by the body over time, typically within 91 to 119 days post-implantation, eliminating the need for suture removal. The suture is presented with a 26mm, 5/8 circle round body needle, specifically designated as a UR-6 URO needle.
This needle is constructed from SS 420 stainless steel alloy and features a silver color. The suture is supplied in individual foil envelopes, with 12 such units packaged per box, and each unit is sterilized using an ETO-T.S.
Cycle. This particular suture configuration is intended for use in urological procedures, specifically for prostate tissue. It is designed for applications where a strong, temporary closure is required and subsequent removal of the suture is not feasible or desirable.
The monofilament construction minimizes tissue drag and reduces the risk of bacterial adherence compared to braided materials. The absorbable nature of the suture is beneficial in situations where long-term tensile strength is not needed and the presence of permanent foreign material could be detrimental. The specific needle design and size are optimized for navigating delicate tissues encountered in urological surgery, facilitating precise placement and secure tissue coaptation.
This product is intended for use by trained medical professionals in a sterile surgical environment. Careful consideration of the suture's absorption profile and tensile strength retention is necessary when selecting it for a particular surgical application. The suture should be handled using appropriate aseptic techniques to maintain sterility.
Storage conditions should adhere to manufacturer recommendations to ensure product integrity.
