Ethicon Mersilk Sutures USP 2-0, 1/2 Circle Round Body - NW5331

This product is a non-absorbable surgical suture designed for use in a variety of surgical procedures. It is constructed from natural braided silk filaments, derived from the Bombyx mori silkworm. The suture material is treated with a beeswax coating, which aids in handling and knot security.

The suture is black in color and has a length of 90 centimeters, with a USP size of 2-0. This size designation indicates a specific diameter suitable for approximating tissues. The suture is supplied pre-attached to a 30 millimeter, 1/2 circle round body needle.

The needle is crafted from SS 420 stainless steel, a material chosen for its strength and ability to maintain a sharp edge. The round body needle design is generally used for suturing soft tissues, allowing for easier passage through tissues with less trauma. The needle is silver in color.

The suture is sterilized using radiation. Each box contains 12 individual suture-needle combinations. The tensile strength of the suture is designed to provide prolonged retention for approximately three months, after which it is expected to degrade over time, although it is classified as non-absorbable for practical purposes in surgical planning.
