Genpirome injection is an antibiotic medicine used to treat serious bacterial infections like pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and skin infections. It also helps patients with low white blood cell counts who may be at risk of infection. The active ingredient in Genpirome injection is cefepime.
This medicine works by killing bacteria by breaking down their outer wall, which they need to survive. You should not take Genpirome injection if you are allergic to it or corn products. Common side effects may include headache, pain, rash, fever, nausea, vomiting, or stomachache.
This medicine is administered to you by a doctor or nurse in the hospital; you should not attempt to inject it yourself. Always inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, especially strong diuretics or certain other antibiotics, as they can interact with Genpirome injection and affect your kidneys. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor.
Genpirome injection is not usually recommended during pregnancy, but your doctor might decide it's necessary. It can pass into breast milk, so consult your doctor for advice. Since this medicine may cause dizziness or confusion, exercise caution when driving or operating machinery.
Always tell your doctor if you have had a severe allergic reaction to similar antibiotics in the past, or if you experience seizures or severe diarrhoea during or after taking Genpirome injection.
The components of this medicine may pass into breastmilk. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as they will advise you on the use of this medicine after assessing the benefits and risks.
Genpirome injection may cause dizziness, confusion, and hallucinations; therefore, caution is needed when driving or operating machines.
No known interactions with alcohol.
Talk to your doctor if
Your doctor or nurse will give this medication. Therefore, it is less likely to provide you with more or less of this medicine. However, if you experience loose motions, nausea, vomiting and fits immediately after taking this injection, inform your doctor as soon as possible.
You will be monitored by the doctor or nurse as to when Genpirome injection should be given to you. Thus, it is unlikely that a dose of the injection will be missed. If the doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.
Cefepime kills bacteria by damaging their protective outer wall, which they need to survive.
Genpirome injection has no effect on blood pressure, respiration, or ECG. However, if you experience any fluctuations in blood pressure or respiration, consult your doctor.
Generally, all antibiotics can cause dark urine. But there is nothing to worry about. Discuss with your doctor if there is any discomfort related to Genpirome injection.
