Cefast injection is an antibiotic containing ceftriaxone, belonging to the Cephalosporin class of medicine. It is used for severe bacterial infections of the brain, lungs, ear, stomach, urinary tract, joints, skin and any other surgical procedures. Ceftriaxone kills the infection-causing bacteria by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall.
Cefast injection will be given to you at a hospital under the medical supervision of a doctor and a nurse. Do not self-inject. Your doctor or nurse will administer this injection as a drip (intravenous infusion) or as an injection directly into a vein or a muscle, after assessing the correct dose for you based on the severity of the infection.
Sometimes you may experience diarrhoea, altered blood levels, pain at the injection site, headache, and dizziness after taking this medicine. However, these side effects resolve on their own; if they worsen, inform your doctor immediately.
Since there is limited safety data available on the use of Cefast injection in pregnant women, Cefast injection must only be used during pregnancy (in particular in the first trimester of pregnancy) if considered essential by your doctor after assessing the benefits over risks.
You may feel dizzy after taking Cefast injection, thus be cautious or avoid driving after taking this injection.
Alcohol may worsen the side effect like dizziness along with Cefast injection . It is advisable to avoid alcohol.

If you are experiencing severe diarrhoea, talk to your doctor about it.
Yes, the Cefast injection can be used to treat urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by infection-causing bacteria. Your doctor may prescribe you this medicine based on the condition of your infection and its severity.
The dose and duration of the treatment with Cefast injection will be decided by the doctor. It should be given till the time you see an improvement in your health conditions.
