Augtax injection is an antibiotic combination used to treat many types of bacterial infections. These include lung infections like pneumonia, ear infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, and infections in the stomach or abdomen. It can also be used for serious blood infections (sepsis), infections of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis), and certain sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhoea.
Targeting harmful bacteria helps your body recover from these illnesses. It works in two ways. Ceftriaxone kills bacteria by stopping them from building their protective outer wall, which they need to survive.
Without this wall, the bacteria break apart and die. Sulbactam helps ceftriaxone work better by blocking the substance that some bacteria produce to protect themselves from antibiotics. This way, the combination can effectively kill bacteria that would otherwise resist treatment.
You should not take this medicine if you are allergic to ceftriaxone, sulbactam, or similar antibiotics, or if you have had severe allergic reactions to penicillin or cephalosporins. It should not be given to newborns with jaundice or those needing calcium treatment through a vein. People with both severe liver and kidney problems should also avoid it unless advised otherwise by their doctor.
Common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, mouth or tongue soreness, skin rash, itching, and hives. Some medicines may interact with Augtax injection. Probenecid can slow the removal of sulbactam from the body, increasing its effect.
Ceftriaxone may reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills, so you should use an extra non-hormonal method like condoms during treatment and for one month after. Always let your doctor know about any medicines you are taking, including herbal supplements. A doctor or nurse usually gives this medicine, so you are unlikely to miss a dose or take too much.
During pregnancy, this medicine should only be used if your doctor believes it is clearly needed. While small amounts can pass into breast milk, they may be used during breastfeeding with caution and under medical supervision. Ceftriaxone may cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel unsteady.
There is no known interaction with alcohol. Always tell your doctor if you have a history of allergies, stomach or bowel problems, liver or kidney disease, unusual bleeding, or if you develop diarrhoea, rash, or breathing problems during treatment.
Augtax injection will be given in the hospital or clinic by the doctor or nurse as an injection. Do not self-inject the medicine. Follow the aftercare instructions provided by the doctor or nurse.
This medicine should be used during pregnancy only if your doctor decides it is clearly needed. The potential benefits should be weighed against any possible risks to the unborn baby.
Low amounts of ceftriaxone and sulbactam pass into breast milk. This medicine can be used while breastfeeding, but it should be taken with caution and only if your doctor thinks it is necessary.
Ceftriaxone can sometimes cause dizziness, which may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery safely. If you feel dizzy after taking it, avoid driving or using machines until you feel well again.
No known interaction between alcohol and this medicine.

Augtax injection will be given to you by a doctor or nurse. Therefore, it is less likely that you may get an overdose of the medicine. If you experience symptoms right after taking the injection, seek medical help.
You will be monitored by the doctor or nurse as to when Augtax injection should be given to you. Thus, it is unlikely that a dose of the injection will be missed. If the doctor or nurse might have missed a dose, inform them.
Inform your doctor if you have allergies to antibiotics, kidney or liver problems, stomach or bowel diseases (especially colitis), bleeding problems, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Yes, it can be used in children if prescribed by a doctor, but the dose will be carefully adjusted according to the child’s age and weight.
Yes, in some cases, it may allow overgrowth of fungi or yeast, leading to symptoms like mouth thrush or vaginal yeast infection. Inform your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth or unusual discharge.
