Zeric Tablet is indicated for the treatment and prevention of gout and elevated uric acid levels in the body. It can be due to various causes, such as a kidney disorder or certain medications. It contains allopurinol as the active component.
Gout is a condition similar to arthritis, with sudden joint pain accompanied by redness and swelling. These symptoms usually occur due to uric acid deposition in the joints. Allopurinol in Zeric Tablets reduces uric acid production in the body.

If you missed a dosage of Zeric Tablet, take it as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. A double dose should not be taken to compensate for the missed one.
Allopurinol, present in Zeric Tablet, inhibits the action of the enzyme xanthine oxidase. Xanthine oxidase plays a crucial role in the synthesis of uric acid in the body. Hence, Allopurinol inhibits the production of uric acid and reduces its levels in the blood and urine.
When the uric acid levels increase in the blood, needle-shaped crystals are built-in and around the joint and cause swelling and pain in the joints, which can last for weeks. This condition is known as Gout.
There are several causes of increased uric acid crystals such as heredity, diuretic medicines, chronic alcoholism, hypothyroidism, certain chemotherapy medicines, kidney stones and consumption of food rich in a component called prunes (red meat, organ meat and certain seafood).
You can take Zeric at any time of the day, advised by the doctor. It would be best if taken after meals with plenty of water. However, try to take your doses at the same time of day each day for maximum results.
Nausea or vomiting are a few common side effects of Zeric. Although not everyone experiences the same. These symptoms usually go away with time.
