Telkonol Trio Tablet is a combination medication for managing high blood pressure that is not adequately controlled by single-agent therapy. It contains three active ingredients: telmisartan, cilnidipine, and chlorthalidone. The tablet should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually at a fixed time, and you should swallow it whole with water.
You should not stop taking it suddenly unless your doctor instructs you to do so, and you must inform your doctor about all your current medications, supplements, and pre-existing health conditions, especially liver, kidney, or heart problems, and diabetes. Telkonol Trio Tablet helps to lower blood pressure in multiple ways. Telmisartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker, and cilnidipine, a calcium channel blocker, work together by relaxing the blood vessels.
This relaxation allows your heart to pump blood more easily, thereby reducing the pressure in your arteries. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic or 'water pill' that helps the body get rid of excess water and salt by increasing urine production. This reduction in fluid volume also contributes significantly to lowering high blood pressure.
This medicine is contraindicated if you have allergies to its ingredients or similar medicines, or if you have severe issues with your liver, kidneys, or heart, or an inability to pass urine. It is also not recommended if you have diabetes and are taking aliskiren, are being treated with lithium, or have specific conditions like untreated Addison’s disease, a history of gout, or a blockage in your gallbladder. Common side effects can include headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, cough, swelling of the lower limbs, and a drop in blood pressure upon standing.
You should strictly avoid taking Telkonol Trio Tablet if you are pregnant, as it can be harmful to the unborn baby, and it should be discontinued immediately upon detection of pregnancy. It is also not recommended while breastfeeding due to limited safety data. You should avoid consuming alcohol as it can further lower your blood pressure and worsen side effects.
If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid driving or operating machinery. Always consult your doctor for personalized advice regarding your diet and exercise while on this medication.
Avoid driving if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking Telkonol Trio Tablet.
Avoid consuming alcohol with Telkonol Trio Tablet as alcohol can lower blood pressure and can also exaggerate the side effects.
