How To Use Portex Blue Line Ultra Tracheostomy Inner Cannula

• Following insertion of the tracheostomy tube and removal of the obturator, insert the inner cannula fully until a click is felt indicating correct positioning.
• If the inner cannula needs to be removed for cleaning, disconnect from the breathing circuit if attached.
• Remove the inner cannula by means of the ring pull on the inner cannula.
• Replace the soiled inner cannula with a clean inner cannula if required ensuring the inner cannula is correctly positioned by means of the 'click'
• Re-connect the tracheostomy tube to the breathing circuit (if used) and check for-security.
• Clean the soiled inner cannula by means of the recommended cleaning instructions.
• Check the inner cannula prior to insertion/re-insertion and discard if kinked or damaged. Replacement inner cannulae are available (100/850 or 100/851).
