syrup is used to help alleviate coughs that produce mucus, especially those associated with asthma, bronchitis, or smoking. It works by thinning the mucus in your lungs, allowing you to cough it out more easily, and helps open up your airways to make breathing smoother. This medicine contains ingredients like ambroxol, guaifenesin, salbutamol, and menthol.
Ambroxol thins mucus and soothes your throat, guaifenesin loosens mucus to clear your chest, salbutamol relaxes tight airway muscles for easier breathing, and menthol provides a cooling, soothing effect. You should not take syrup if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, have heart problems, thyroid issues, acute porphyria, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Always tell your doctor about any other medicines you take, especially blood pressure drugs, antidepressants, or anaesthesia medicines, as there can be interactions.
