Pentate Injection is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (one or more tumours formed in the pancreas or upper part of the small intestine). It contains pantoprazole as its main component. It belongs to a group of medicines called "Proton pump inhibitors", medications that reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Pentate Injection will be given in hospital by your doctor or nurse. Do not self-inject.

The doctor or nurse usually gives this injection in the hospital or clinic. Therefore, the chances of missing a dose are less. However, if you feel that a dose has been missed, please inform your doctor and nurse.
A pump called the proton pump in the stomach is responsible for the secretion of stomach acids. Pantoprazole binds to this proton pump in stomach cells, thus blocking acid secretion. Therefore, it is used in conditions where there is excessive acidity.
