Lincopride Injection is used for the treatment of serious bacterial infections in cases where other commonly used antibiotics have failed to cure or could not be used due to allergic problems. It contains lincomycin, an antibiotic. It should be used only when it is proven that the cause of infection is bacteria which is sensitive to Lincomycin.
It should not be used to treat minor bacterial infections or viral infections. Lincopride Injection will be given to you in hospital or clinic by a doctor or nurse. You should avoid self-injecting.
It should be taken only when clearly prescribed by your doctor as this injection may lead to side effects which may present as mild diarrhoea or even life threatening Clostridium infections. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history, before starting this medicine.
There is no adequate information available on the use of Lincopride Injection in pregnant women, thus Lincopride Injection if considered essential by the doctor after assessing the benefits over risks.
Lincomycin in breast milk in low amounts. Thus, your doctor will decide of either discontinuing the medicine or the breastfeeding after assessing the potential risk on breastfeeding infant over risk of delayed treatment with Lincopride Injection on breastfeeding mother.

Lincomycin works by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins required for the bacterial cell wall formation, thus stops the growth and prevents spreading of the infection.

No, do not discontinue the treatment with Lincopride Injection even if you feel better, as missing the doses or not completing the full course of therapy may lead to treatment failure & the bacteria may develop resistance. Thus, you should always complete the course of treatment.
