Edox dry syrup helps treat mild to moderate high blood pressure. It combines losartan, which blocks a hormone that tightens blood vessels and causes your body to retain salt and water, with amlodipine, which relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into their muscle walls. Together, they help lower blood pressure and reduce strain on your heart.
Take this medicine exactly as your doctor instructs. Once a day, with or after a meal, swallowed whole with water. It is important to take it at the same time each day.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next one, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Never double up on a dose.
Some people may experience side effects such as nausea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, flushing, swelling, abdominal pain, heartburn, body aches, or diarrhoea. Be especially careful if you take other blood pressure drugs, potassium supplements, lithium, NSAIDs (like ibuprofen), or aliskiren, because these can further lower your blood pressure or affect kidney function and potassium levels. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to its ingredients, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Store it in a cool, dry place away from children and pets. Avoid alcohol and do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel dizzy. In case of overdose or if you have severe reactions like very low blood pressure, fast heartbeat, or trouble breathing, seek medical help right away.
Edox dry syrup should not be taken during pregnancy. If pregnancy is detected while taking this medicine, it should be discontinued immediately. Taking this medicine during pregnancy can cause damage to the growing fetus.
Discuss with your doctor if you are breastfeeding while taking this medicine. Due to a lack of safety information, it should be avoided during pregnancy, and a safer treatment alternative should be considered. Breastfeeding premature babies and newborns is not recommended while taking this medicine.
Blood pressure-lowering medicines can cause dizziness or drowsiness, especially during initiation of treatment or when the dose is increased. Avoid driving if you experience any of these symptoms.
Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine.
Talk to your doctor if
Taking too much of this medicine can lead to a significant reduction in blood pressure, a disturbed heart rate, palpitations, and a rapid breathing rate, among other side effects. In case of an overdose, reach out to your doctor or the emergency department of the nearby hospital.
Avoid potassium-rich foods or salt substitutes unless your doctor says it's okay. Some painkillers (like ibuprofen) and other medicines may interfere with this drug.
Your blood pressure will gradually return to normal. You may not notice any difference, so it is crucial to keep taking the medication and monitor your blood pressure regularly.
