Ecogrel Tablet contains prasugrel as its active ingredient, which belongs to a group of medicines called blood thinners. It is used in preventing blood clot formation in blood vessels after certain procedures (cardiac stent) in people with heart diseases, reducing the risk of having another heart attack, stroke and heart-related chest pain. It ensures the smooth and normal flow of blood in blood vessels.
This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents. It should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It can be taken with or without food.
Before using this medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.
Ecogrel Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without food. It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.
You should consult your doctor before using Ecogrel Tablet as there is limited information about its safety during pregnancy. Your doctor will only prescribe you this medicine if considered essential after assessing the benefits over risks.
Ecogrel Tablet is not recommended for use while breastfeeding as it is unknown if Prasugrel passes into breastmilk. Please consult your doctor before using this medicine during breastfeeding.
It is not expected that this medicine will affect your ability to drive. However, if you do not feel well or are unable to be alert, you should avoid driving.
There is limited information about the effects of Ecogrel Tablet with alcohol. However, you should avoid consuming alcohol in excess.
Talk to your doctor if
Overdose of Ecogrel Tablet may cause excessive bleeding. Seek urgent medical attention in case you have consumed too much of this medicine.
If you missed any dose of Ecogrel Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
Prasugrel in Ecogrel Tablet works by inhibiting the enzymes responsible for platelet aggregation and prevents the platelets from sticking to each other. This maintains a smooth flow of blood in the blood vessels, thus decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots.
Ecogrel Tablet is an antiplatelet medicine (blood thinner) containing Prasugrel as its active component.
