Diabeclaz tablet is an anti-diabetic medicine that contains gliclazide as its active ingredient. It is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or does not use insulin properly.
Insulin is a hormone that helps the body's cells use glucose for energy. Take this medicine exactly as instructed by the doctor. It should be taken before food.
While taking this medicine, you should be cautious of your diet and should also exercise regularly. Do not miss any dose or stop taking this medicine without informing your doctor. It should be taken just before or with food.
Headache, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness are some side effects that you may experience while on treatment with this medicine. If you feel the side effects persist or your condition worsens, then contact your doctor immediately. You should tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements you take, and also about all the diseases or conditions you suffer from, or if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy or are breastfeeding, before starting this medicine.
This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy, as there is limited information about its safety in pregnancy. You should consult your doctor if you are pregnant or think you may be or are planning for a baby, before starting this medicine.
It is unknown if Gliclazide passes into human milk; it should not be used while breastfeeding.
This medicine is known to cause low blood sugar levels, which can impair your driving ability. Always keep sugar, juice or a bar of chocolate in your car with you while driving. In case you experience any of the symptoms of low blood glucose levels like dizziness, drowsiness, visual disturbances and sweating, then stop driving immediately and have sugar/ juice. Do not consume sugar-free during such episodes.

The pancreas has beta cells that are responsible for the production of insulin. Gliclazide works by increasing those beta cells, thus producing more insulin, which helps in lowering the blood sugar.
Try to take your medicine at the same time every day. Try connecting your medicine with something you do every day, such as brushing your teeth at night or having your dinner. This may help you remember to take it. Keep a daily calendar or set an alarm clock to go at the time you need to take your medicine.
No, do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as it could worsen your condition of diabetes. Instead, you should consult your doctor and he/she may adjust your dose as per your needs.
