Dersol L skin solution is a topical medicine that contains lactic acid and salicylic acid, which are commonly used to treat thickened skin conditions such as warts, corns, and calluses. These conditions develop when the skin becomes hard and thick due to pressure, friction, or viral infection. This lotion works by gradually softening and breaking down the outer layer of thickened skin, helping it shed over time and allowing healthier skin to grow in its place.
Salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic agent, meaning it helps dissolve the protein (keratin) that makes up the thick, rough skin. Lactic acid enhances this effect by promoting gentle exfoliation and improving the penetration of salicylic acid into the affected area. Together, these ingredients slowly reduce the size and thickness of warts, corns, or calluses when used regularly as directed by your doctor.
This lotion is for external use only and should be applied carefully to the affected area, avoiding the surrounding healthy skin, as it may cause irritation, redness, or peeling. It is important to follow your doctor's application instructions, as overuse or incorrect use can lead to excessive skin irritation or blistering. Treatment may take several weeks, depending on the size and severity of the condition.
While most people tolerate this medicine well, some may experience mild burning, stinging, peeling, or temporary skin discoloration at the site of application. These effects are usually mild and temporary. However, if you notice severe irritation, swelling, or signs of an allergic reaction, you should stop using the lotion and consult your doctor.
Always use this medicine under medical guidance, especially in children or if you have diabetes or nerve-related problems.
Talk to your doctor if
Dersol L skin solution is used for the topical treatment of common warts, plantar warts, mosaic warts, corns, and calluses. These are thickened areas of skin that develop due to friction, pressure, or viral infection.
Soak the affected area in warm water for 5 minutes and dry thoroughly. Gently rub the thickened skin if advised. Apply the lotion only to the affected area. Allow it to dry before applying another layer. Avoid contact with surrounding healthy skin.
It may take several weeks of regular use to completely remove the affected skin. The duration depends on the size and type of the wart, corn, or callus.
Possible side effects include mild skin irritation, peeling, temporary skin discoloration, burning sensation, or allergic reaction at the application site. Not everyone experiences side effects. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.
