The Datt Velfix-T+Pad is a sterile, transparent film dressing designed for wound management. It integrates a non-adherent absorbent pad within a flexible polyurethane film backing. The dressing is constructed to provide a protective barrier over wounds, facilitating a conducive environment for healing.
The polyurethane film is 30 micrometers thick, offering a balance of strength and conformability. The absorbent pad is designed to manage exudate, and the acrylic adhesive ensures secure placement on the skin. This product is available in a size of 10cm by 20cm and is supplied in packs of one or twenty-five units.
The transparent nature of the film allows for visual monitoring of the wound without the need for dressing removal, which can help reduce disturbance to the healing site. The dressing is gamma sterilized to ensure its sterility upon use. It is also latex-free, making it suitable for individuals with latex sensitivities.
The dressing is intended for single use and should not be resterilized. Proper storage in a cool, dry place is recommended, and it should be kept out of reach of children. The packaging should be inspected for damage before use; damaged packages should not be utilized.
The Datt Velfix-T+Pad functions by creating a semi-permeable barrier over the wound. The polyurethane film is both waterproof, protecting the wound from external contaminants and moisture, and breathable, allowing for the passage of water vapor. This breathability is quantified by a high moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) of 2685 GSM/24 hours, which helps to prevent the accumulation of excess moisture at the wound site, thereby reducing the risk of maceration and promoting a healthier healing environment.
The non-adherent pad is positioned directly over the wound bed, designed to absorb exudate without sticking to the delicate healing tissue. This feature is intended to minimize discomfort and potential trauma during dressing changes. The acrylic adhesive is applied in a patterned manner, contributing to the overall breathability of the dressing while providing a secure hold on the skin.
The dressing's flexibility allows it to conform to various body contours, including areas that experience frequent movement, such as joints, enhancing patient comfort and ensuring the dressing remains in place.
Key features of the Datt Velfix-T+Pad include its waterproof and breathable bacterial barrier, which shields the wound from external pathogens and moisture while allowing for moisture vapor escape. The dressing's ability to conform to body contours enhances patient comfort, particularly in high-movement areas. It is suitable for wounds exhibiting light to moderate levels of drainage, effectively managing exudate with its absorbent pad.
The high MVTR supports a favorable healing environment by preventing excessive moisture buildup. The non-adherent nature of the pad minimizes pain during removal, and the transparent film facilitates easy wound inspection without necessitating complete dressing changes. The patterned adhesive contributes to the dressing's secure application and breathability.
The product is latex-free, catering to users with sensitivities. Its gamma sterilization ensures a sterile product for safe application.
This dressing is utilized by a range of medical professionals, including nurses, doctors, and other healthcare providers involved in wound care. Patients themselves, or their caregivers, may also use this dressing under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Its design makes it appropriate for managing various types of wounds.
Typical applications include post-operative wound care, especially following surgical procedures where swelling might occur. It is also indicated for the management of acute wounds such as lacerations, abrasions, and burns. The dressing's conformability makes it particularly useful for wounds located on extremities or areas prone to friction and movement.
When using the Datt Velfix-T+Pad, it is important to ensure the skin surrounding the wound is clean and dry before application to optimize adhesion. The dressing should be applied carefully to avoid creasing the film, ensuring good contact with the skin. The transparent film allows for visual assessment of the wound and the dressing's adherence.
If the dressing becomes soiled, saturated with exudate, or if the patient experiences signs of infection or adverse reaction, the dressing should be changed. The product is intended for single use only and must not be reused or resterilized. Storage instructions should be followed to maintain product integrity.
Any damage to the packaging prior to use should be noted, and the product should not be applied if the packaging is compromised. The dressing should be removed gently to minimize skin trauma.
