This is a sterile, moisture-retentive wound dressing designed to facilitate the body's natural healing mechanisms. The dressing is composed of a hydrocolloid matrix that interacts with wound exudate. Upon contact with wound fluid, the hydrocolloids within the dressing transform into a cohesive gel.
This gel formation aids in the management of wound moisture, creating an optimal environment conducive to tissue regeneration and autolytic debridement. The dressing functions as a barrier, offering protection against external contaminants, including bacteria and viruses, thereby reducing the risk of infection.
The mechanism of action involves the absorption and gelation of wound exudate. This process helps to maintain a moist wound environment, which is recognized as beneficial for wound healing. The gel formation also contributes to the dressing's ability to adhere to the wound bed and surrounding skin, allowing for gentle removal without disrupting newly formed tissue.
The dressing's design aims to minimize the need for frequent changes, which can further support the healing process and enhance patient comfort.
Key features include its hydrocolloid composition, which enables the formation of a gel upon contact with exudate, and its self-adherent properties, simplifying application and ensuring secure placement. The dressing is designed to be permeable to oxygen while acting as a barrier to liquids and microorganisms. Its ability to manage varying levels of exudate through gel formation is a significant benefit.
The material is medical grade and non-toxic, intended for sensitive skin.
This dressing is indicated for use by healthcare professionals in the management of various wound types. It is suitable for partial-thickness and full-thickness wounds. Specific applications include pressure ulcers (classified as Stage II through Stage IV), venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, superficial wounds, partial-thickness burns, and donor sites.
It can also be used on surgical wounds and traumatic wounds where exudate management and a moist healing environment are desired.
Usage notes include ensuring the dressing is applied to clean, dry skin. The surrounding skin should be free of excess moisture or oils. The dressing should be changed when exudate reaches the indicated level, or when the dressing begins to lift at the edges, typically every 3 to 7 days depending on the wound's condition and exudate level.
The product is sterile and should not be resterilized. Damaged packaging should not be used. Storage should be in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
This product is intended for external use only.
