Cardace 5mg tablet contains ramipril which is used to manage high blood pressure and also prevent heart - related risks. This medicine belongs to the "Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)" class of medicine. It also reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.
It acts by inhibiting the formation of the chemical substance Angiotensin II, which is responsible for constricting the blood vessels.
Cardace 5mg tablet should be taken as instructed by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.
Cardace 5mg tablet is not recommended to be used during pregnancy due to its ability to cause harm to the unborn baby, especially during the 2nd and 3rd trimester. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or planning to get pregnant.
It is not advised to take Cardace 5mg tablet while breastfeeding due to its harmful effects on the newborn baby.
Do not drive if you experience dizziness, a side effect of Cardace 5mg tablet.
Cardace 5mg tablet can make you feel dizzy and cause a drop in blood pressure. Therefore, avoid drinking alcohol.
Talk to your doctor if
Overdose of Cardace 5mg tablet can result in extremely low blood pressure, increased levels of sodium or potassium in the blood or sudden failure of the functions of kidneys. If you have taken too much of this medicine then contact your doctor or visit your nearest hospital immediately.
If you have missed any dose, take it as soon as you remember it. If it is time for the next dose, the missed dose can be skipped and the regular dose schedule should be followed. Avoid double dose to compensate for the missed one.
Cardace 5mg tablet acts by inhibiting the formation of Angiotensin II which constricts the blood vessels. Thus, the inhibitory action causes the relaxation of blood vessels, lowers the blood pressure and makes the pumping of blood in the heart easier.
Dizziness can be a side effect of some blood pressure medications, but it is not caused by high blood pressure.
In case you experience any side effects, it is recommended to stop taking Cardace 5 and consult your doctor as soon as possible.
Inform your doctor before taking Cardace 5 along with ibuprofen. Combining these medications may reduce the effects of the medicine in lowering blood pressure. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
Cough medicines are not effective for coughing occurring due to Cardace 5mg. The cough can be treated by the body's natural defence mechanism. Consult your doctor if you face any difficulty in sleeping, as alternatives can be provided. Even if you stop taking Cardace 5mg dosage, the cough may take a few days to a month to go away.
Cardace 5mg starts to work within a few hours to reduce high blood pressure, but may take a few weeks to show its full effect.
It is advised to reduce the intake of salt and avoid foods containing potassium during the treatment with Cardace 5.
