The BPL Aneroid Sphygmomanometer BP Monitor is a manual device designed for the measurement and monitoring of blood pressure. This instrument functions by utilizing an inflatable cuff, a manometer to display pressure readings, and a bulb with a valve for inflation. When the cuff is inflated around the upper arm, it temporarily restricts blood flow.
As the air is slowly released, the user, typically aided by a stethoscope listening for arterial sounds, identifies the systolic and diastolic pressures based on the manometer's readings. The device offers a testing range from 0 to 300 mmHg, with a minimum scale value of 2 mmHg and a tolerance of ± 3.75 mmHg, ensuring precise readings.
The manometer features an analog dial display for visual interpretation of the pressure. The cuff is constructed from medical-grade, latex-free material, promoting user safety and accommodating a wide range of arm sizes due to its durable nylon composition and adjustable velcro strip. The design includes a large inflation bulb for efficient one-handed operation and a metal air needle valve for smooth pressure regulation.
A reticulated filter integrated into the check valve helps prevent dust ingress, contributing to the device's longevity. This sphygmomanometer is intended for use by healthcare professionals in clinical settings, as well as by individuals for personal health management at home. It is a critical tool for tracking blood pressure levels, which is essential for the management and control of conditions such as hypertension.
The device is operated manually, requiring the user to inflate the cuff and interpret the readings, making it a reliable option for situations where electronic devices may not be suitable or available. Proper usage involves wrapping the cuff securely around the upper arm at heart level, inflating it until arterial sounds are no longer audible, and then slowly releasing the pressure while listening for the Korotkoff sounds to determine systolic and diastolic pressures. Users should ensure the cuff is positioned correctly and the valve is properly tightened and released to obtain accurate measurements.
The device should be stored in a cool, dry environment and handled with care to maintain its calibration and functionality.
