Augmentin Es Suspension is an antibiotic medication used to treat bacterial infections in the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. This medicine is specially designed for children and should be used under adult supervision. You can give Augmentin Es Suspension to your child with or without food, but it is recommended to give it with food to improve absorption and reduce the risk of stomach upset.
The doctor may prescribe it to be taken two to three times a day. The dose depends on the severity and type of infection as well as your child’s weight and age. It is important to stick to the prescribed dose, timing, and method of administration.
If your child vomits the medication within 30 minutes of taking it, let them calm down and repeat the dose. However, if it is close to the time for the next dose, do not double the dose. Possible side effects of Augmentin Es Suspension include vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, and allergic reactions.
These side effects usually pass on their own, but if they continue or become bothersome, consult your child's doctor immediately. Be sure to inform the doctor of your child’s complete medical history, including any past allergies, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, airway obstructions, lung issues, gastrointestinal problems, skin conditions and liver or kidney impairments. This information will assist the doctor in adjusting the dose and planning your child's overall treatment.
Talk to your doctor if
Symptoms of an overdose include stomach disturbances, vomiting, diarrhoea, drowsiness and fluid retention. If you have given too much of Augmentin Es Suspension to your child, contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
It is advised not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can affect the treatment regimen. If you have missed giving any dose of Augmentin Es Suspension, then give it as soon as you remember. If it's already time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.
Augmentin Es Suspension works by the combined action of both its components - amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin works by killing the bacteria responsible for infections. However, the bacteria make the enzyme (beta-lactamases) which can destroy amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid inactivates this enzyme and hence helps amoxicillin to perform its function.
Yes, diarrhoea is a common side effect during treatment with Augmentin Es Suspension. However, if your child is experiencing persistent diarrhoea, seek advice from your doctor immediately.
Never give Augmentin Es Suspension if your child is allergic to penicillin. Serious side effects can result in the same. Always consult your doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Augmentin Es Suspension can start showing its effect approximately after 1 hour of its consumption. However, it varies among individuals and can also vary due to the severity of the infection. As it is an antibiotic medicine, the complete effect towards the infection could be seen after the course completion of the antibiotic treatment.
