The Adlisc Ambu Bag is a manual resuscitator designed for providing positive pressure ventilation to patients who are not breathing or are breathing inadequately. This device is a critical component in emergency respiratory support, enabling healthcare providers to deliver oxygen and ventilate a patient's lungs manually. It consists of a self-inflating bag, a non-rebreathing valve, a patient connector, and an optional oxygen reservoir.
The self-inflating nature of the bag means it will return to its original shape after compression, allowing for repeated ventilation cycles without the need for an external gas source to inflate the bag itself. The non-rebreathing valve ensures that exhaled air from the patient is directed away from the resuscitator and the ambient air, preventing rebreathing of carbon dioxide and contamination. The patient connector is standardized to interface with various airway adjuncts, such as endotracheal tubes or face masks, ensuring a secure and effective connection.
The optional oxygen reservoir further enhances the device's utility by allowing for the delivery of higher concentrations of oxygen, up to 100%, when connected to an oxygen source.
