Adinol tablet is a blood pressure reducing medicine. It is used to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to relieve chest pain and regularise heartbeats.
Adinol tablet contains atenolol as the active ingredient. Take this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor, in the prescribed dose and duration. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own.
Before using Adinol tablet, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about your detailed medical history.
Adinol tablet should be strictly avoided during pregnancy as it has serious side effects on the unborn baby as it crosses the placenta and reaches the cord blood. This results in complications ranging from growth retardation to foetal death. However, your doctor might prescribe it during pregnancy in case if the benefits overweigh the risks.
Do not use Adinol tablet while breastfeeding as it is known to pass into the breastmilk and can be fatal for the infant.
Adinol tablet does not inhibit your ability to drive. However, if you experience dizziness or tiredness after taking the medicine, do not drive or operate tools and machines.
Consuming alcohol with Adinol tablet can drastically reduce blood pressure and hence it must be avoided.
Talk to your doctor if
An overdose of Adinol tablet can result in lethargy, missing heartbeats, excessive slowing of heartbeats, swelling of the hands, feet, ankles or lower legs, shakiness, dizziness, sweating or confusion, blurred vision, headache, pale colour, numbness or tingling in the mouth. Seek immediate medical help in case of overdose.
If you have missed any dose of Adinol tablet, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow your regular dose schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
Adinol tablet works by decreasing the heart rate, thereby lowering the blood pressure and the strain on the heart.
Kindly inform your doctor about your complete medical history along with any history of diabetes mellitus, liver and kidney disorders, heart disorders and thyroid disorders. Women should share their pregnancy status along with the use of oral birth control pills and any history of pregnancy-induced high blood pressure.
The dosage of Adinol tablet will be determined by your doctor. Consult your doctor about the same.
The course of Adinol tablet is for a set duration as determined by your doctor. Do not exceed or alter the course of this medicine without consulting your doctor first.
Do not stop taking Adinol tablet without consulting your doctor first, who might suggest you decrease your dose gradually. Stopping a beta-blocker suddenly can cause chest pain, irregular heartbeats or a heart attack.
Immediately consult your doctor in case you experience symptoms such as dizziness, syncope, vision problems, sexual dysfunction and slowing of heart rate. The doctor will accordingly adjust your future dosage, depending on certain important factors like your blood pressure, heart rate and the level of Atenolol in your serum.
Headache, tiredness, nausea, diarrhoea, cold hand and feet, etc., are a few common side effects of Adinol tablet, although not everyone gets them. Side effects often improve as your body gets used to the medicine.
You can take Adinol tablet with or without food at any time of the day as told by the doctor. But it's best to take it at the same time each day for maximum results.
