Dr. Sukumar Sura has done his masters in general surgery from one of the oldest medical colleges in India (Stanley medical college and hospital Chennai 2002-2005).
After completing his masters he worked as a senior resident in the department. of neurosurgery, Bombay hospital, under renowned neurosurgeons and also with the endovascular neurosurgeon. He also passed diplomate national board examinations in general surgery.
He is Member of Royal College of Surgeons(MRCS) Edinburgh, which he cleared in 2005. He did his MCH in neurosurgery from one of the premier institutes in India (post graduate institute of medical education and research, Chandigarh) where he was specially trained in vascular neurosurgery and skull base surgery.
