Stefanie’s diagnosis came at a particularly challenging time, shortly after the birth of her first son. The physical toll of RA was immediate and profound. Currently, there is no cure for rheumatoid arthritis. However, with advancements in treatment, it is highly manageable. The goal of treatment is to control inflammation, relieve symptoms, prevent joint damage, and improve quality of life.
While RA is not directly inherited, there is a genetic predisposition. Certain genes can increase your risk of developing RA, but having these genes does not guarantee you will get the disease. Environmental factors also play a significant role.
